I created a few mockups for a Mother’s Day Instagram carousel. While reels are still getting the most attention on Instagram, the algorithm is beginning to push carousels, so they are vital to include in your marketing strategy.

This mockup is for The Fierce Loving Mama, a blog that a member of our church, Ann Furtado, runs. Right before Mother’s Day, she wrote a blog post titled “There She Goes” where she discusses her struggle with the realization that her youngest child is getting ready to leave the nest. She is learning how to navigate what the role of mom looks like in this season of life.

This is the cover for the carousel; the hook. It’s the first photo people see and needs to catch people’s attention. It relates to more moms than some of the other slides do. Since the blog post as a whole is about maneuvering a new stage of life, this reaches the larger target audience of the post.

This next slide is similar in how it relates to a larger target audience that can relate to the post. If the cover photo doesn’t catch someone’s attention the first time, Instagram may push the same post by showing the second photo first. So it needs to be similar in having a strong hook.

This next slide is where we get more specific about what Ann is experiencing and what many others are too.

This last slide is where we will have the most specific reference.

This style and idea are not only a trend, but are also proven to be how people follow along with content.

The caption would read:

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mamas out there. You are not alone in this stage of motherhood.

My eldest is married now, the two of them are their own family, and I couldn’t be prouder of them. My youngest just got her driver’s license and is becoming a young independent woman whom I also couldn’t be prouder of. I’m learning to navigate this new stage of motherhood and figure out what my identity, outside of being the person they used to always need, is.
